General Dentistry Procedures
Instead of waiting for a painful or expensive tooth emergency to happen, our proactive general dentistry focuses on advanced diagnostics, bacterial testing, and early prevention to protect your natural teeth and keep your smile healthy for life.
Traditional dentistry vs. prevention-based dentistry
Much of healthcare in the United States (both medical and dental) has become driven by insurance limitations. Unfortunately, insurance companies are designed to manage costs. That often means treatment is only covered after disease becomes severe enough, painful enough, or catastrophic enough to justify intervention. The traditional approach often sounds like this: “Let’s watch it.”“Wait until it breaks.”“We’ll treat it once there’s a problem.” At Forever Smiles, we believe there is a better way.
We believe in prevention, prediction, and protection
Our philosophy is simple: find problems before they become painful, expensive, or destructive. Instead of waiting for disease to happen, we focus on identifying risk factors early, often before symptoms appear, and helping patients protect their teeth for the long term. The goal is not just fixing teeth. The goal is helping you keep healthy, beautiful teeth for the rest of your life.
Advanced prevention: Looking beneath the surface
Modern dentistry gives us tools that didn’t exist years ago. At Forever Smiles, we use advanced diagnostic technologies to better understand why disease happens and not just how to repair the damage after it occurs.
Salivary testing for oral bacteria
Your mouth contains a complex bacterial environment.
Certain bacteria are associated with gum disease (periodontal disease), tooth decay (cavities), oral inflammation, oral candidiasis (yeast imbalance), and others. Through advanced salivary testing, we can identify elevated levels of harmful pathogens before major destruction occurs. If high-risk bacteria are detected, we can create targeted treatment strategies designed to improve the health of your oral microbiome and reduce future disease risk.
Treating the cause, not just the symptoms
Historically, dentistry often focused on a simple cycle: Cavity → Drill → Fill → Repeat. We believe that model misses the bigger picture. If someone continues getting cavities, the real question should be: why are the cavities happening? At Forever Smiles, we focus on identifying and treating the underlying causes of disease. That may include reducing harmful cavity-causing bacteria, improving saliva quality and flow, treating dry mouth, supporting healthy oral bacteria balance, and addressing dietary or medical contributors.
Clinically proven cavity prevention systems
We use evidence-based prevention protocols, including The Carifree® System and probiotics. The Carifree system is designed to help reduce cavity-causing bacteria and improve the oral environment through specialized rinses, toothpaste, sprays, and lozenges. For patients with moderate or high cavity risk, these therapies can significantly improve oral health outcomes. We may also recommend oral probiotics such as BioGaia® to help support a healthier oral bacterial balance and reduce harmful bacterial overgrowth. The goal is to create a healthier oral environment. Not just continually repair damage after it happens.
Caries risk assessment: Predicting future cavities
One of the most important preventive tools in dentistry is a caries (cavity) risk assessment.
Simply put, we want to know how likely you are to develop cavities before they happen. Through an exam and a health questionnaire, we evaluate factors such as current cavity history, existing dental restorations, diet and sugar exposure, dry mouth or reduced saliva, oral hygiene habits, medical conditions and medications, and bacterial risk factors. Patients are categorized into low, moderate, high, and extreme risk, which allows us to create a personalized prevention plan.
Screening for sleep apnea
Many people are surprised to learn that sleep apnea can significantly affect dental health. Sleep-disordered breathing can contribute to tooth grinding and wear, cracked teeth, acid exposure and erosion, dry mouth, increased cavity risk, and TMJ issues. At Forever Smiles, we routinely screen for signs of sleep apnea and airway issues because protecting your teeth also means protecting the systems affecting them.
Preventive restorative dentistry
We believe in early, minimally invasive treatment when problems are identified. If we see cracks in teeth, tooth wear or erosion, old failing restorations, or weak or structurally compromised teeth, our philosophy is not “Let’s wait until it breaks.” Instead, we often recommend conservative strengthening treatments using advanced bonding techniques, composite resin, or porcelain restorations to preserve teeth and prevent catastrophic failures later. The earlier problems are treated, the more conservative treatment can often be.
More than insurance dentistry
Insurance can be helpful. But insurance should never determine the standard of care you deserve. At Forever Smiles, we believe you deserve access to the best treatment options available, even if they go beyond what traditional insurance models prioritize. We believe you deserve healthy teeth for life, you deserve to eat comfortably and confidently, you deserve a smile that feels beautiful and natural, you deserve preventive care, not reactive care, and you deserve treatment designed around long-term health and not short-term insurance limitations
Our philosophy: Dentistry for life
We do excellent general dentistry. But more importantly, we believe in helping patients stay healthy for life. Our goal is not simply to repair problems. Our goal is to help you maintain a confident, beautiful, functional smile that allows you to eat, laugh, speak, and enjoy life for decades to come. At Forever Smiles, we believe healthy aging should include healthy teeth, strong function, and a smile you are proud to share.
